Dr. Shafer is the principal Founder of Vero Neurology having joined Vero Orthopaedics in 1997. Dr. Shafer specializes in a wide variety of neurological disorders. His interest is in general neurology with a focus on Multiple Sclerosis and Stroke. Dr. Shafer is Medical Director of the MS Center of Vero Beach. He is also Medical Director of Indian River Medical Center Stroke Center. He provides comprehensive care in common neurological disorders such as Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, Migraine Headache, Epilepsy, Peripheral Neuropathy and many other neurological disorders. Dr. Shafer completed his undergraduate work at the University of Florida. He went on to complete medical school and internship at the University of Miami in Florida. Dr. Shafer then completed a residency in adult neurology at the University of Florida. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry at Indian River Medical Center.

Dr. Shafer enjoys running, swimming and cycling. He has completed numerous triathlons, including Ironman, and long-distance running events. Dr. Shafer is a long-time resident of Vero Beach and has been practicing in this area for his entire career.
